It pays to choose a beard shape according to your face shape. For a rounder face, a slightly longer chin and sharper lines usually work, as they visually lengthen the face. For a square face, more rounded shapes soften the jaw. For a longer face, a shorter chin and fuller sides are usually better.
During the consultation, the barber will tell you what suits your face and the density of your beard. If you have inspiration, bring a photo.
Razor and sensitive skin: finishing the lines with a razor or shaver gives the sharpest result but can irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin, ingrown hairs or a tendency to redness, tell the barber – they will adapt.
How long should you grow your beard before the first trim? A few weeks is usually enough to have something to shape. The barber can tell if it is worth waiting a little longer.
